Despite the fact that they were launched a while ago, DVDs and even CDs continue to be two of the most popular ways of storing and transporting data. But the problem with this optical media is that it gets scratched very easily and this makes the data on the disc unreadable. If there are important personal files on the disc, then a scratch could be a real problem. Flash media, despite the fact that it's more reliable than optical media, it has its own downsides. One of them is the limited number of reading and writing cycles. In both ways, data stored on these devices will get permanently lost or corrupted. Fortunately, there is one last hope for the user's important data and that's the program BadCopy Pro. It's a software that can easily get corrupted data back from most types of storage devices, like floppy disks, optical media and memory cards.

The program installs rapidly and without much intervention from the user. It can run on most versions of Microsoft Windows, starting with XP. It's gentle on the system resources and it takes up little hard disk space.

Speaking about the interface, it's simple and every option is where the user would expect it to be. Basically, the program consists of two sections, one for selecting the type of media from which the user would like to recover files and the other, for configuring the recovery options. These options allow choosing what types of files the program will recover and also the starting sector from which the scanning process will begin. The program has two ways of working, one for rescuing lost files and the other for rescuing corrupted files that cannot be copied from the media anymore using the classical method.

After an amount of time, BadCopy Pro will list all the found files and the user can select which of them he wants to recover. Besides that, files can be previewed as hex, text or as an image, depending on the file type.

Cons:
The trial version can scan for lost files but cannot recover them.
